Recently, I was working on coding a new tiny utility software for myself and was using my favorite Notepad++ to write my code.
This is one of my close-to-heart kind of programs that helps me in innumerable ways. Not so long until when I found myself working to my heart’s content on the code that I forgot to save my last 3-4 hours of hard work.
That’s exactly when the unexpected and inevitable thing happened. The computer and all my open Windows got frozen and I now have to force restart my laptop. And my code?!
Luckily, Notepad++ again saved my life.
Here’s exactly what saved my life: BACKUP!
Yes, Notepad++ was recently updated in my system and to my delight, this great software has auto backup activated which saves my work every 7 seconds!!
Here’s how you too can do that:
Open Notepad++ and go to Settings > Preferences.
On the left side, select ‘Backup’ and ensure that ‘Enable session snapshot and periodic backup checkbox is selected and backup in every # seconds is also updated with a number. In my case, it was 7 seconds.
Here’s a screenshot:
Now this setting is default, but it doesn’t hurt to double check which saves heart breaks and hours of hard work.
