Am sure you know Wikipedia. We all do, correct? But have you come across people who are still new to English language and then there are also students looking for an easy to understand generic explanation or children and adults with learning difficulties?
That’s where one can use ‘Simple English’ Wikipedia.
It’s like the regular wiki without jargons, has fewer words and grammar that is easy to understand than the ordinary and usual English Wikipedia.
This clearly has been helpful for many students and other people across the globe. This is also evident that though this was called for closure twice – once in October 2007 and again in October 2008 – there were many oppositions to that decision than supporting the closure. Fortunately for the learning community, this survived and is still in use.
What’s more obvious is that even regular menus and words from the regular website are changed to a very simple text in the simple version.
For example, see these two screenshots below: the Edit menu in the regular Wikipedia is shown as Change menu in the Simple version.
